Our Guide To Writing Great Devotionals.

We know that writing devotionals and messages can be the hardest part of any ministry. But having a good message is what keeps viewers with you, they want to hear good, inspiring messages. Here is a guide on how to write good messages written by our founder Ben Roe.

The only way to write any good message is to spend time in God's word yourself.  You will never write a good message without spending time in God's word yourself. I know, it can be hard to find time in your busy schedule to take to time and spend it in God's word to benefit yourself instead of others. So, I encourage you to download the you-version bible app. The you-version bible app not only has a free bible but also you have access to thousands of different reading plans that will help you get familiar with a topic, and help you through something that you may be going through in your own life. The you-version bible app also may inspire you to write a message about a topic you see on the app. Some of our series are based on plans that I have completed on the bible app. I'm not just saying how good the app is because YouVersion is a partner of Ben's Bible Instagram, I'm saying it from the bottom of my heart. The you-version bible app is a wonderful free resource available to use for you and your ministry.

Ask your viewers about what they want to hear. We get suggestions on what to write about all of the time. Our most requested topic is hope. Everyone always wants encouragement and hope no matter what season they are in. So, we make sure that we are always posting hopeful verses and devotionals all of the time. We try to write about all of the requested topics that we receive because our followers are not just followers, they are people. Our biggest person of influence is Jesus. Jesus cared about His followers and treated them as human beings not just a number. We think it's so important to treat our followers like Jesus would; with respect. The followers of your organization are looking up to you and the worst thing you can do is look down on them. So, treat your followers as people not a number.

Listen to what other leaders have to say. I know that's what you are doing right now, but I still have more to learn just like every other leader that you will turn to. I always make sure to step back and listen to other leaders and what they have to say. Some of my favorite leaders that I get inspiration from are, Pastor Steven Furtick from Elevation Church, Dr. Rex Keener from Grace Fellowship Church, and Craig Groeschel from Life.Church. There is always more to learn, unless you are Jesus, so in that case you will never know everything. So, listen to what others have to say.

Be A Leader. If you have the amazing opportunity to be writing messages or devotionals for people to hear then check where you are at. All good leaders should always be taking inventory about their personal status. If you feel that you're not up for leading others because you can't lead yourself, then don't lead. This might sound harsh but nobody wants to have a hypocritical leader. People want to have a leader that knows what they're preaching about and not a leader that does the opposite of what they preach about. It's ok to step down from a leadership role. Nobody should judge you for doing so, and if they do then they should be taking inventory of where they are at in life. So, be a leader that wants to lead.

I encourage you to take all of this into consideration. In my option these tips are some of the things that makes a person a great leader and someone who can successfully share God's Word through messages and devotionals.
